Welcome to the official website for Canadian author Ian Ferguson. Ian has enjoyed a lengthy and prolific career in the entertainment industry as an author, playwright, educator; and a producer and director working in both theatre and television. He is based in Victoria, BC.

Ian has teamed up with his brother Will once again to co-author a series of humourous mystery novels: I ONLY READ MURDER (Harper Collins) releases June 2023. Ian is also the author of non-fiction humour books THE SURVIVAL GUIDE TO B.C. Ian produced and directed SHE KILLS ME a TV series featuring funny women that aired nationally on APTN in 2014-2015. Ian also wrote, directed and produced the feature documentary GONE SOUTH: HOW CANADA INVENTED HOLLYWOOD, broadcast on SuperChannel and screened at a number of Film Festivals in Canada and the US. Ian has worked as an independent producer and consultant on a number of TV/Film projects.
Active in the theatre world, Ian is a dramatrug, playwright and stage director. Best known as the creator & director of the popular live comedy show SIN CITY THE LIVE IMPROVISED SERIAL produced by Broad Theatrics. Nominated for two M Awards "Top Improv/Sketch Show" and "Favourite New Production", he directed eight seasons and 155 hilarious episodes in Victoria from 2011 - 2019.
Bio
Ian grew up in Northern Alberta as one of six siblings. His unique childhood was the inspiration for his award-winning memoir VILLAGE OF THE SMALL HOUSES. Ian studied set design at Mount Royal College in Calgary, going on to earn a BFA degree in Acting from the University of Alberta in Edmonton, and later, an MFA in Theatre Directing from Toronto's York University.
